Finishing the film

An incredible amount has happened in recent months so I will try to be brief! After 9 months of video editing we finished the final cut of our film, Lost Kites. If you add up the travelling/filming time plus the months it took to  edit, then its been just over 2 and half years of work! Never before in my life have I put so much of myself into a campaign or film.

I’m happy to say I’m proud of what the team and I have created an already we are getting incredible responses from across the globe. We have opportunities and requests for screenings in the Americas, Europe, Asia and beyond!

Just days after returning from my sisters wedding. The team and I flew to the W.W.O conference in Thailand where we premiered our documentary for the first time. Incredibly many of the experts in our film were present for the breakout seminars.

We were blown away by the warm reception we received with many requests for further screenings from many of the countries represented at the conference. Now after screenings across Canada and the CAFO conference in Florida, we’ve just had our first European premiere in Germany to a standing ovation. As one half of the team tours Europe, the other half continues touring the US until we meet for the UK tour end of July. This way we can maximise the exposure for the film in the least amount of time.

Why is the film tour so important?

To see vulnerable families strengthened, and children restored to family- globally. This is the main message of our film, though we understand that for a church whose been supporting an orphanage for 20+ years, they may need more time to unpack the movement of family based care. That’s why as we tour we found the Q&A session after the film to be so important. It allows us to continue the conversation, point them towards our resources, and see change happen for the children and families who need it.
